2014: Recap and Gratitude Out My Ears!

Posted Dec 31 2014, 3:44 pm in

It’s the last day of 2014, and though I’m ALWAYS excited for fresh starts (new days, new weeks, new years, new beginnings of all kinds), I’m a little sorry to see this year come to a close. Before I sit down and map out my goals for 2015 (a task I get unreasonably excited about), I want to take a minute to review the AWESOME that was 2014.

This was my first full year as a full-time writer (I left the day job in May 2013), and I feel good about what I’m doing with the time this has granted me. I published 3 novellas and 4 novels. I started the year with Stolen Wishes, a prequel novella for William and Cally. All or Nothing was released as part of the All I Ever Wanted anthology and then on its own in November. Then in April, June, and August, I released the three books in the Here and Now series: Lost in Me, Fall to You, and All for This, which debuted #1 across iTunes US, UK, and Australia, and hit the USA Today list.

In December, I released Something Wild, a surprise free novella introducing Liz and Sam and the Reckless and Real series, followed shortly by book 1 in the series, Something Reckless. I’ll release the final book in Liz and Sam’s saga in March of 2015.

I also sold more translation rights to France, Germany, and made my first translation deal for getting the Here and Now series into Italian. Aren’t these covers hot?

In addition to writing and publishing as much as I could, I attended book signings in Cleveland, New Orleans, Seattle, Tampa, Las Vegas, and Indianapolis, and met a lot of amazing authors and readers. I was absolutely thrilled to meet some of my favorite online writer friends in-person, including Lauren Blakely, Monica Murphy, Melody Grace, Rhonda Helms, Megan Mulry, Mira Lynn Kelly, Julia Broadbooks, Jeffe Kennedy, and so many more.

I will undoubtedly remember someone super important the second I click “publish” on this post. I also met hundreds of the amazing readers and bloggers. I LOVE YOU ALL! Seriously. You’re all amazing and wonderful, and I am so grateful.

On a personal level, it was a great year as well. My kids turned 3 and 7, and they’re wild and crazy and wonderful, and I’m grateful to have them. I celebrated my 10th wedding anniversary with my husband, and my brother and several of our close friends got married. Big year for weddings and so much fun!

While we were at this wedding reception, I posted this to facebook and a reader who was there saw it and realized we were at the same reception. Glad she came over to introduce herself. It made my night!

2014 also began my continuing house hunt. We’ve simply outgrown our home, and we’re looking for a bigger place. Alas, I’m picky and I don’t want my son to have to change schools, so I may still be on the hunt this time next year. Regardless, I love looking at houses and thinking about floor plans and lots, etc, so it’s been a fun part of my year for sure.

I’m not 100% sure what 2015 will hold. For those of you who follow my New Hope series, you can look forward to the conclusion of Liz and Sam’s story in Something Real in March. Summer(ish??) will bring Max Hallowell’s story–a long-awaited HEA for a guy some of you have been rooting for all year. I have to decide what comes after that. It’s always hard to choose between all the ideas and characters pulling at me, but I’m pretty sure 2015 will bring the start of an all-new series, and maybe a surprise or two as well.

I hope you all had an equally amazing year, and here’s to new beginnings!

<3 Lexi

  1. I can not wait to read Max’s HEA! That poor guy has had some extreme circumstances hit his life. And now being a single dad will make it even harder for him to find that right person.
Lexi, your publishings for 2014 were phenomenal! Can’t wait to read what’s in 2015! I’m glad your doing this full-time because your great at it!
